The 20th Delaney Dash, a Mohegan Strider sponsored event, was held on Oct 30, 2021. The race honors the memory of Sean Delaney who was the Men’s racing team captain, newsletter contributor, and friend to not just the Striders but to runners throughout the state. The race is usually held in May but Covid forced the race directors to cancel in 2020 and reschedule in 2021.
A Beyond-Yucky forecast negatively swayed any undecided race-day entrants to remain at home (snuggled in bed). Final numbers: 183 finishers in the 4 mile race, 12(ish) walkers in the 1.6 mile causeway jaunt, a mere 4 kids in the fun run, and a small handful of Halloween Themed individuals vying for the stuffed plastic pumpkin prizes. Disappointing? Quite. But for those who ventured out for some competition, some exercise, and some fun, we thank you for sharing your morning with us.
