Here we go Striders. The grand prix is back and with some changes to the point system. Hopefully with this new point system it will give those runners who may not be speed demons a fair shake.
Points are as follows:
Every SIGNED in runner will get 1 point, no matter where they finish and all who wears the club uniform will get an additional 5 points. So, even if you’re not a fast runner you can earn 6 points for running.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division will receive 15, 10 and 5 points respectively.
Volunteering at any of the grand prix races – 1 point and 5 additional if you wear the club uniform/gear
Attending Strider meetings – 10 points
Attending the banquet and the Strider picnic – 25 points each event
Summer fun runs – 5 points each run. This year the fun run for points will be the Plainfield Rec Runs at the Plainfield High School. The fun runs will alternate between Plainfield and Norwich each year (Norwich 2018)

One more item and I can’t stress this enough, it is YOUR responsibility to sign in at all events whether you’re a runner/walker or a volunteer. No sign, no points. The only exception was the banquet because we did have an attendance sheet.
We’re hoping that this new point system will be fair to runners and volunteers alike.
